Yourcast 2.0: Podcasts in Telegram with AI Summaries You Can Jump Into

The free Yourcast bot for Telegram has released version 2.0, with AI summaries of episodes that let you jump straight to the part you want in the audio.

Tools

What the bot does

Yourcast is a Telegram bot where you can find a podcast, subscribe to it, and listen to episodes without a separate app. The author is launching version 2.0 on Product Hunt.

The main new feature is AI summaries. The bot shows the gist of an episode and its key points with timestamps. Tap a time and the audio jumps to that spot. You can also ask any question about a specific episode.

Other features: tap a popular podcast to subscribe, and its latest episode arrives in the chat right away. You can paste an Apple Podcasts link or move your subscriptions from another app using an OPML file. If a feed breaks or moves, the bot rechecks it daily and looks for the new address. Episodes can be up to 2 GB, and downloads resume where they stopped.

Plans

Payment goes through Telegram Stars. The free plan includes 10 episodes a week. The Bronze plan costs $1 and adds automatic delivery of new episodes. The Relay plan costs $5 and includes 30 hours of summaries per month.

Why it matters

The author says the project was on the top of Product Hunt four years ago and then mostly ran on its own. In the last seven weeks, he says, 85 code changes were merged, mostly written with large language models. That is more than in the previous five years combined. The code is open source under GPL v3, so anyone can look at it or suggest changes.

The author asks for feedback and poses three questions: whether a summary is enough to decide if an episode is worth an hour; what, if anything, would stop you in the first minute; and what would make you switch from your current podcast app.
