Artificial "students" will help test AI tutors before children use them
Microsoft Research has created the StudentSim system, which simulates student behavior to test and improve AI tutors before they are tested with live people.
What this system is
Microsoft Research has introduced StudentSim, a research system for evaluating and improving AI tutoring tools. Its goal is to check how an AI learning assistant works before real students begin using it.
The system models how different people may interact with a tutor. This makes it possible to spot the program's weak points in advance and give it feedback so that it teaches better.
What subjects it covers
According to reports, StudentSim applies to various areas of study: chess, writing, and mathematics. Specific results are not given in the short description of the research.
